Last weekend I competed in an area swim meet at the Ocean County YMCA. Chris and I walked around the pool with the olympic torch before the swim meet started. I swam the backstroke in the 200 medley relay, the 100 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke and a 200 yard freestyle relay. Our medley relay team came in third. I won a silver medal in the 100 yard freestyle, a gold in the 100 yard backstroke and I don't know how the team placed in the freestyle relay. I will find out tomorrow when I go to the Marlins swim team practice.
In a little more than two months, I will be going to Greece!

Training Camp, San Diego, California, March 27-31, 2011
Sunday: I arrived at the Hotel Crown Plaza around lunch time. After lunch, I waited for my roommate, Ann, to check in. After dinner, I went to the team doctor for an exam. She found out that I had an ear infection. I started taking medicine for it on Sunday night.
Monday-Wednesday: I swam three hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon each day. We swam at the San Diego State University pool. There were 40 swimmers in the pool at the same time. I felt sandwiched in.
On Monday night we had a fashion show. I saw all of the different sports team uniforms Our swimsuit is red and blue.
On Tuesday we went to see the San Diego State baseball team play but the swimming team had to leave early because we needed to get up early on Wednesday We had a Greek night on Wednesday. We had Greek food and saw Greek people dancing.

Off to Training Camp, San Diego, California
March 27, 2011 The seven members of Team USA from NJ left from Newark Airport (NJ) to go to San Diego to Training Camp for the World Games. We will be in San Diego until Thursday. I am looking forward to meeting my aquatics Coach, Coach Phil and I am feeling a little nervous about the trip.
Here is a picture of the team at Newark Airport. Lillian Navarez, Vice President of Sports for Special Olympics, NJ is in front. She is taking our team to and from San Diego. Thank you Lillian!
I caught a cold on Friday. I am coughing and don't feel my best. I hope I get better so I can swim in San Diego.

Swimming with the Marlins
I am training with 2 swim teams to get ready for Greece. On Sundays I practice with the Marlins in Freehold. We stretch before we swim and then we do 4 laps of freestyle. I swim in lane 3 and I am the only girl. In my lane we swim the IM (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle). I like the IM but I do not like the breaststroke, because the breaststroke is hard from me. I also practice diving off the block.
One cool thing about swimming wtih the Marlins is that Chris M is on my team. Chris and I went to Nationals in Nebraska and now we are going to Greece together. Chris is an awesome swimmer! In Greece he is swimming the 400 freestyle, 200 backstroke, and the 200 breaststroke.
I like to swim with the Marlins beacuse I like to pratice with Chris. Practicing wtih the Marlins has made me a better swimmer. I have built up my endurance and worked on my flip turns. I plan to keep practicing flip turns so I can swim faster in Greece.
